Generations of kids have grown up smacking at each other with light sabers, but Star Wars could’ve been a lot different as it turns out. Here are a few scrapped story ideas that almost changed the face of Star Wars.

Luke Skywalker Was a Woman


Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is one of the most iconic movie heroes of all time. Mark Hamill will always be known as the blond haired farm boy from Tatooine. But what if Luke Skywalker looked a lot different? What if he was a woman? In one of the first drafts for the original Star Wars, George Lucas played around with the idea of making his hero a heroine. While the female Luke Skywalker never made it past one draft, her personality became the basis for Princess Leia.
